Under Construction

I am trying to update our blog look but seem to be making more of a mess. Please bear with me while I try to fix it.

Thanks,

Family Pictures

While we were living in Florida this Summer we had some family pictures taken by a family friend. She did such a great job capturing Hazel's growing personality. Here are a few of our favorites.

p.s. - We did buy a CD, but the CD drive on my computer is broken so I just copied these off her website.

It amazes me how much she has changed in 4 short months. Crazy!

9 Months Already!

Isn't she the cutest thing you have ever seen!

Hazel sure is growing like a weed and gaining such a personality. Here are a few things that she has been up to lately.......

- growing 7 very crooked and sharp teeth.
- pulling up on everything she possible can. (still not cruising on the furniture much, but we are working on that.)
- loving the game of peek a boo
- learning to throw a ball
- she finally can make the "da" sound, but much to Justin's dismay not putting the sounds together or even saying it very often.
- "Baba" is her favorite sound to make!
- learning to use a sippy cup and hold her own bottle.
- eating more solid foods so that by a year old we can toss that baby food.

We also went to the doctor yesterday and got some updated stats.

Height - 28 inches = 67th percentile
Weight - 18 lbs. 8 oz. = 45th percentile
Head - 43.8 cm = 45th percentile

She also got 2 shots and had to have some blood drawn. She handled the shots like a champ, but obviously lost it with the blood drawing (frankly I don't blame her one bit, that stuff hurts).

She is getting more and more cuddly everyday too, which is why she isn't very good at holding her own bottle (woops). I just love to hold and snuggle that girl while she eats her bottle, well really any chance I get.

Corn Day

Yesterday we enjoyed a very nice day here at home. We don't get to do it very often, which just makes the days that we do, even more special. I had ordered some corn from a local farmer and got my bag of 48 ears on Friday night, which meant our nice day at home was spent putting up corn. This is not a totally new concept for me because growing up I got to help out with my Papa's corn every year.

First you shuck. Even Hazel helped by keeping us company on the porch.

Then the silking. We put in a movie and enjoyed the peace and quiet while Hazel took a nap.

Hazel tested!

Then washing and cutting the kernels off the cob.

Then after some final directions from Papa we started to cooking process. At this point I wasn't feeling very good and Hazel was tired of being put second to corn so it was a little more chaotic and more like work then fun, but it got done all the same.

Please notice that in all the pictures there were 2 work stations. Even though I wasn't in any pictures I did do my part. Promise.

We were able to freeze 18 servings of corn and it feels great. Since we have been back in Williamsburg we have been able to can some green beans, freeze some corn, blueberries, and peaches. It has been learning experience and lots of fun.
